Titan autoguiding questions
« on: February 10, 2012, 08:57:59 pm »
Hi,
Had my first play guiding with a Titan purchased at Astrofest today.  I have a couple of questions.

First, I found it easy to connect both my 383L and the titan to CCDSoft.  Guiding with the Titan from CCD Soft using the camera relays worked well.  In the Titan CCDSoft setup it showed the Temperature as "Unknown" although there was a dialogue to set the temperature from 0 to -10.

Question 1 - Is the Titan supposed to have the facility to set and / or readout the temperature in CCDSoft or is it a cooling ON or cooling off type arangement responding just to  plugging in the 12V for the camera. ie is it always on with the 12V supply is plugged in?

I sometimes use PHD guiding and tried the Titan using this software connected as Atik Gen3.mono - Atik High Speed.   I could guide with PHD using an ASCOM connection to my mount (G11) but there did not seem to be anyway to select camera relay (ST4) guiding from the mount dialigue in PHD.

Question 2 - Should I be able to use the Titan with ST4 guiding with PHD?

Thanks
Allan.

1] No, there's no way to read / set the temperature with the Titan as it's not regulated.

2] In the "Telescope" menu, choose "On camera" to use ST4 with PHD.

Hi,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I understand about the unregulated temperatue.

In PHD, I looked for the On Camera selection within the Telescope menu - It was not present.
Anything I could do to understand why?

Sorry, it's on the "Mount" menu at the top of the window. It's the last item.

I just got my first Titan purchase a couple of days back and have just been able to play with it last night and today.  It sure is very easy to have it connected to any software available that are supported and the guidance options sure works very well.

Not quite sure with having the facility set up as a whole that will let the hardware work rather better than its other alternatives.
