Power Adapter
« on: March 25, 2012, 01:20:50 pm »
Hello All,

I just purchased a 383L+ and want to power it using a power adapter. Can anyone tell me which one to get and which ones are considered approved? If you can, tell me a brand with a part or item number so I can order one.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

I use 2 Ring coolbox adapters, one for my EQ6 mount and dew heaters, the other with the 383L+/filterwheel. Seems to work OK, no problems so far.

Just google 'coolbox mains adapter' and there are plenty at less than £20 (assuming you are in UK)

Thanks Tim, I'll look at that adapter. I'm in the U.S.

Hi Mark,

I use this one; I have hooked up everything I own to it ( Mount, ELP, EFW2, 383l+, Lodestar, Dewheaters....)

It is kind of cheap and it works like an expensive one; what does an astronomers heart want more  ;D

I use two of these, one for my mount and dew heater and one for the camera. They do make others with different amperages.

Mark,
Good luck with the camera. The best bit of advice I can give is that it is worth spending an extra few minutes on getting good focus before starting an imaging session. I use Artemis capture, draw a box around quite a faint star and then zoom the display up.

If there is some money left; invest in an Autofocused Crayford; I use one of those; never will give it away  ;)
