First Image With 460EX
« on: May 03, 2012, 04:20:20 pm »
Hi All,

This is my first go with my mono 460EX.
This camera is mega sensitive and it highlighted a light leak
in the optical train that I had not known about. ( leak not in camera)
The posted image has this light leak but I have darkened the back ground to hide it. ;D

Poor conditions hence - M3 8 X 1min , no flats or darks.

8" RC , AP Focal Reducer.

The weather has been so bad this is the only opportunity I have had to use the camera

The camera works fine with the provided software and MaximDL.
Not sure the cooler works with Nebulosity , will have to check.

Hi all,

Update - the cooler does work with Nebulosity ( Atik Universal driver) you just don't get a temperature read out as it cools.

Craig built that driver when I sent him the Atik developers kit link when the original Atik 314L came out (pre314L+).  It may be time to have him update the kit.  That was a very long time ago when he built that - before the 314L eval he wrote up even as he did not even have a camera to test.  He was sending me Nebulosity_Atik314 executables to test the driver which included turning the cooler on and off.  Pretty good job I must say considering he didn't even have a camera to try it!

Is there a new software development kit link that's been modified since the original 314L?
If so, perhaps someone can tell me if it's newer and a link for it so we can send it to Craig Stark.
I ordered the first US model of the 460EX color at NEAF 2012.  It hasn't even shipped to me yet so I am anxious to try it with Nebulosity 3.  Probably best to make sure the drivers work in advance, right?

Nebulosity should do it : you just need to go into "Edit" > "Preferences" and in "Misc", choose "CCD Temperature" for "Clock / TEC display". It will show the current CCD Temperature below the series name. It works at least for the 383L+ which came out after the 314.

Thanks for the info - never noticed this command with it being near the bottom of the preferences.
Yep , this brings about a CCD temperature reading on the lower right of the screen below the series1 statement.
