Atik460OSC - M13 using a single 9minute frame
« on: June 10, 2012, 05:43:25 pm »
I was out tweaking guiding on my new Paramount MX and did a nine minute frame test. Outcome was quite a surprise as I was expecting the core of M13 to be blown. Instead the result was better than an earlier trial with 11x5 minute frames with much better colour. Seems this camera thrives on longer frames though of course a lot depends on imaging conditions.

Very good! And a single frame!

Repeat that a few times and you'll have an outstanding image.  8)

My thinking exactly! As I said, I only really took a nine minute frame to make sure that guiding was doing its job but was quite shocked when I processed it. I will certainly be pushing my sub lengths a bit with this camera and would love to try a single 20 minute frame now. Roll on having a bit more than 3 hours true darkness a night to play in!

Chris,

Congratulations on a very nice result with a single frame ! (Makes me think back to the time of classic film photography :-)).

The famous 'Y' near the core of M13 clearly shows here.
