Saving an image
« on: April 05, 2016, 03:10:52 pm »
Last night I was doing some galaxy viewing with my Atik Mono and had a great time.  After stacking M104 for about 3 minutes, and after adjusting the histogram to the perfect settings, I had a great image on the screen.  I clicked the save image in the upper right hand corner and saved the image.  It did not save it as I saw it.  In the saved image, you could barely see M104, and I had to do some processing to see it again.  Is there someway to save it exactly like you are seeing it?

Well, I think I answered my own question, looks like if I save it as a jpeg or PNG, it saves what I am seeing.  If I save it as FITS, you just get the raw image

Mike, when saving images that are to be post processed in the near future your best to always save them as fits. If you do not plan to post process your images then it is best to first them as png. for lossless compression just in case you changed you're mind followed by jpeg esp. if only posting to web site.
