Elongated guide stars with ATIK OAG
« on: August 03, 2019, 11:35:13 AM »
Hello everyone,,
Iím using the ATIK OAG with a ZWO 290MM.

My guide stars are elonagated in PHD2 whilst the stars through my main camera (490ex) are perfectly round.
PHD2 exposure length from 1 sec to 4 sec all the guide stars are elongated.
I have adjusted focus using a Bahtinov mask. I think itís tilt in the OAG prism. As I rotate the mask there is a position where the alignment lines on the Bahitonv mask image is of equal brightness between each side of the mask. As I rotate in line with the elongation of the stars one side fades.
I notice that as I tighten the prism when Iím at the right extension length the prism ďbarĒ moves a bit to one side.
Perhaps this is the source of the tilt?
Does anyone else who owns the ATIK OAG ever experience this? Is my OAG faulty?
I hope Iíve made myself clear....
