Need advice on telescope mounts
« on: November 22, 2019, 10:30:17 am »
Quite a while ago my dad’s school were giving away a telescope that they didn’t need, so he took it but it didn’t come with anything but the the telescope itself. I’ve tried looking into suitable mounts for it but don’t really know what I’m looking for. What I know is mounts have weight limitations so it would have to be able to carry at least 6.1kgs. I would like to try to spend as little money as possible but I appreciate this may not be possible if I wanted a good quality. Can you suggest any good mounts for these requirements? Might it be worth buying them second hand to make them cheaper? If you need more information about the telescope please ask and I’ll try to answer. Thanks in advance!

Hello and welcome to the forum!

Well, you have lots of choices for mounts that can manage a telescope of that weight. First of all though, what type of scope is it?...a refractor or a reflector? Brand name maybe?

Depends on what kind of telescope it is. Do you have any pictures or can you read the label on it?
