Title: Darks, flats, and Bias with a ATIK383L+ ?
Post by: UlteriorModem on August 01, 2016, 11:09:34 pm
First post here so I will be brief.

Regarding flats.

I understand the concept of shooting flats what is confusing me is shooting flats with the 383l+ (mono) using Artimis software.

Specifcally the ADU number...

The software at the bottom right has three sets of numbers following the filename. Reads as follows.

(xxx,yyy)=zzz

Am I correct in assuming that these are (xxx, yyy) location of the pixel and =zzz is the adu number?

What is a good adu number for this camera?

Thanks in advance

Firstly, welcome to the forum!

That is the right assumption, but probably not the best way to find your ADU number for flats. It's better (and easier!) to use the Histogram and black/white level values in the Display window. With the 383L+, aim to get the peak between around 20,000-25,000.

Hope that helps!
