Title: HH nebula first run.
Post by: MichaelMcCall on December 04, 2013, 06:41:48 pm
Had my 314L+ for about a week and love it.   Never could get the HH neb. but Wow.   First attempt and I'm addicted now.

Hi Michael,

well done and congrats on you 314; a nice piece of kit!
The nebula in your rendition is barely visible; what about your Histogram?
What are the details about the processing, image exposure and software used?

I am using a guide scope guider that does not work as well as I like.  I can get at most 3 minute subs.    I think this picture was made with 35 3 minute subs.  I have a homemade 8 inch f6 Newt that I'm shooting through.  I have an off axis guider and a low profile focuses on the way to allow me longer subs.   As far as the histogram I could push it farther but I don't like the harsh look.  I think the image as it is now is more what it would really look like.

Pushed all the way.   I think it looks washed out.   But more detail does show up.

Hi,

I prefer your last result, even if it is noisier. What Processing Soft do you use?
As there is a satellite trace you could calculate is out with something like DBE in PixInsight.
Also be careful to crop the borders avoiding the soft to take the black borders of image combination into account. This also boosts the level of detail..
