Title: Focal Length & Cam Choice
Post by: scrow on June 13, 2012, 03:46:12 pm
Hello, new here. I've pretty much decided on an Atik camera and was seriously considering the mono 460ex. Hopefully keep me going for quite a while but I need to make the right choice. I have an 1100EdgeHD telescope which has a pretty long focal length at 11, I appreciate I can do hyperstar imaging at FL2 which I intend to do but what about prime focus, does this limit my camera choice? I ask because I'd considered a competing product but they actually put me off it saying it wouldn't be good on my telescopes long FL. Any help would be appreciated. I don't fancy spending two grand on something that is not 'ideal'. Thanks.

Hi,

Steve has been using a C11 with the 460 prototype for a while. You can check some of the results here:

While a C11 is a long fl telescope, with a good reducer and/or binned 2x2 it may be quite useable. Not to mention Hyperstar, of course...  ;)
