Title: Crop around SAO38002

Hello

The 383L+ is fantastic in 1x1 mode. Here you can see the area around the star SAO38002 – crop from an NGC891 picture. The next days the hole picture should be ready.

Optic: GSO RC8 with AP0.67 reducer. So the system works with f5.3
This is a crop from “one” picture with 1800sec exposure time in 1x1 mode at -30°C.

Only four steps in CCDStack (No Darks, no Flats, no Bias...- just the RAW)
1.) Press the DDP button.
2.) Move the Slider
3.) Crop around SAO38002 - Mag 6,72 star.
4.) Save as jpg.

Amazing how those faint galaxies have imaged with just one raw exposure, looking forward to seeing final image. Be interested to know your mount/guiding setup. Tim

Yes, it's really amazing. The 383L+ is a premium CCD.   :)

I use an EQ6 and OAG Guiding with the Lodstar. My EQ6 is not the best one. Long exposures needs an exposure time of 0.5sec for the Guidecam and good seeing. Guiding SW is PHD. The mount is controlled by EQMod SW.

Please have a look to the picture for my setup.

PS:
The TDM you can see in the picture is only used together with an AO unit.

PS:
The bright star (mag 6.72) has a “middle spike”.
This is because of the OAG. Therefore I have to do better adjustment for the prism of the OAG.

That really is incredible.

And it just goes to show. You don't need large aperture instruments, if you have the right camera.

I will be very interested in seeing your final work Max.

The first light is now ready - but there was a big problem with the dew over the night. Ice on the main mirror!

That's a shame Max.

I hope the ice doesn't do any long-term damage, to the mirror coatings.

With my scope. I have a low-wattage bulb fixed underneath where the telescope rests. I switch it on when we have a sever frost forecast.

I hope there will be no damage.
But to well prepared I ordered a second heating collar for the rear end of the scope and hope that will help.
