Title: Atik 414EX
Post by: m16seal on May 08, 2015, 03:17:25 pm
Hello,

Yesterday I have placed an order of Atik 414EX from optcorp.com,, I want to use Atik 414 with my Celestron 8SE OTA. but my question:

1- How to use this camera with my Celestron 6.3 focal reducer
2- How to use a light pollution filter with this camera & other filter, I'm interesting to buy Orion Skyglow light pollution AP filter.

Thanks

The F/6.3 reducer screws on the back of the SCT, then the CCD should be spaced 105mm behind the reducer.  You can get close by fitting the SCT to 1.25" visual back, then a diagonal and fit the 414 to the diagonal using the 1.25" adaptor.  A 1.25" filter can screw into the 1.25" adaptor.

Another way, one I prefer, is to get a SCT to T thread adaptor, then T thread spacers, then the camera with no T to 1.25" adaptor.  Fitting a 1.25" filter is more of a challenge, a filter wheel is one option, another is a 1.25" to T adaptor but the only place I've seen why supplies this is ScopeStuff - http://www.scopestuff.com/ss_tfa1.htm

You will find that you can never have enough adaptors.
