Hi all,
picked up my camera at the Kelling Heath September star party this year from the Atik stand (thanks Steve & the guys) - ive not used it in anger yet so cant wait for that, ive been told by other CCD users in my astro society that flats are particularly problematic with these cameras as the shutter will be on the images if exposure time is too short. Anyone have any ideas of an optimal time for taking a flat with this model?
Cheers

I use a minimum of about 5 seconds. You need a pretty dim light box to get the exposure this high for luminance but it's not a problem with narrow band filters, they take about 20 seconds and a bright light box.

Hi,
I use always 7 seconds (with 7s darks) – it’s necessary because of the 3nm filters. For the LRGB filter I use some papers between the Flatbox.
Optik: WO-Star71 f/4.9
CCD: Atik383L+
Filter: Astrodon LRGB and narro band with 3nm
EL-A5 Flatfolie
Ha: no paper / 7s / ca. 20.000 - ADU
SII: no paper / 7s / ca. 13.000
OII: 2 papers / 7s / ca. 20.000
Red: 5 papers / 7s / ca. 18.000
Green: 5 papers / 7s / ca. 30.000
Lum: 8 papers / 7s / ca. 28.000
Blue: 8 papers / 7s / ca. 22.000

Thanks Max,
I'm not sure what paper you mean - can you enlighten me?
