Title: Atik 383L problem
Post by: roblewis on May 18, 2020, 02:05:27 pm
Hi
I have attached a 3 min exposure of M13. It appears to have an acute case of dust bunnies. I have tried blasting the chip with compressed air but it makes no difference. I purchased the camera back in Oct but haven't used it much due to bad weather. On switching the camera on the image downloading initially appears clean but then deteriorates as the chip cools towards the set point. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is?
With thanks

Hi Rob!
I've never seen dust bunnies look quite like that and not sure why a camera cool down would make them appear. Have you tried closely inspecting the sensor window with a magnifying glass under a strong light to see if you can notice anything? On one occasion I had a speck of dirt on my sensor window that was very difficult to find without using both. Did you also try rotating the camera while doing a test image just to verify that the spots move with the rotation?
