M33 Triangulum Galaxy

In early November, SE Spain: 4 x 600s Lum + total of 9 x 300s RGB. It may not be perfect but a huge leap forward for me.

Hi,

indeed a very nice result; especially with this "short" exposure!
What optics do you use?

Best

Hi Lex - thanks for the positive comments. I am lucky to have got a good second hand Tak FSQ106ED. I think the combination with the 460EX is great.....what is not great is my processing afterwards.....but over the coming months I know that I can improve that. Having got guiding now operational on my set-up (QHY 5 II with Tak FS60CB and PHD) my next job is to manage auto meridian flips so that I can perhaps get a full night of shooting on the same subject...i.e. make a big increase in exposure time in one nights shooting.

Just as an aside, I had seen on another site some time back that someone had put up a diagram of their set-up.....showing the spacing on their scope with SX cameras. I found it useful and did the same for my set-up. I will post it shortly (as this is ATIK forum) showing how my 460Ex connects to my Tak Scope. It may be useful to someone.

Hi Kinch,

I like your first and your second example!
Have you got an uncompressed version somewhere, I think the jpeg compression is masking some of the image's highlights...

Online I only have the JPEGs. I am looking closely and see that on the bigger stars I have to learn to sharpen them up some more. I have just now applied background neutralisation and it probably is a better quality, but not as 'soft' and not as pleasing to the eye.
Thanks for taking the time to look - maybe tomorrow I'll spend some more time on this.....and I agree, JPEG is nowhere as good as FIT files when one looks closely at Astro shots.
