Title: FPS for 414EX
Post by: Gregj888 on May 10, 2015, 07:43:10 PM
Hi all,

I'm looking for a new camera to use for Speckle Interferometer.  We typically capture 1000 frames with 10ms to 50ms exposures.  We can also get by with an ROI of 256 x 256 or 512 x 512.  No binning (we scale the image).

I'm wondering if someone can tell me what to expect for a frame rate for the conditions above?  We don't need video rates but do need FPS not SPF :-)

Also, can I verify there isn't a shutter or if there is, multiple frames can be taken with the shutter open?  Otherwise we wear out the shutter pretty fast.

Thank you.

You will do better asking Atik support for this sort of detail.

From what I can see the Atik cameras seem to have a download speed of about 1Mpixel per second so a 512 x 512 subframe should take something like 260 milliseconds to download.  You might get 2 to 3 frames a second.
There is no shutter.

The Titan may be better if you want speed.

I've not tried either camera.

Chris,

Thank you.  Will try that route.
