Post by: donboysail on April 04, 2016, 10:01:23 PM
While test broadcasting on Nightskiesnetwork.com I captured my first four Infinity images.

Thanks Karl.   I used a C8 with a .5x focal reducer and an Idas LPS P2 filter.  I placed the filter ahead of the focal reducer to increase the spacing but noticed some coma, in the future I will place the focal reducer first on the nosepiece and then the Idas filter.

Thanks for the info Don, I may have to get me one of those filters!  Did this mean longer exposures though as I only use Alt Az?  As for Coma I did not notice and nor would your average viewer.  The detail in M81 and 82 is incredible for a live broadcast!

Cheers

A LP filter will require longer exposure.  But if you are doing 10sec-20sec exposures with lots of stacking it may work without a LP filter.

These are brilliant! As Karl says, the detail in M81/82 is fantastic, particularly M82 at less than 5 minutes - looking forward to seeing some more!

Thanks for the info Don and I just spotted the exposure and stacking notes - Alt AZ could handle 45 seconds no problem so this is quite exciting for me  ;D  I will be trying these two next, one at F5 and the other at F10.  Painful to find at these ratios but I love to fill the screen!

Thanks again and hope to catch you doing this live in the future.

Hey Don,

Those are some excellent images and I really enjoyed your show live when you were using the Infinity for the 1st time.

Cheers,

Chris
