Title: Whitelight 3350mm using titan from the SGL starparty
Post by: NickK on April 01, 2014, 03:56:34 pm
Solar film on the pentax, single sub from the titan using the R1.23 ExampleApp on OSX.

I really need to clean the scope again!

Nice and tight but a bit soft.

Hehe that's nyquist for you!

The scope is rated at 1.1 arc sec resolution.. for 3350 that's probably running at 0.5 arc sec, so the image will soften as defraction occurs.

If I stacked the images and sharped then it would look better :)

Here's a processed version - this time using 100 images, registax to align and assess quality (90% of images taken), next using Pixinsight to stack the aligned images into 64 bit integrated image then sharpen a little and then stretch before saving as a 16 bit png:

Nick, thanks for taking the time for the reprocess. I now prefer the first image. You may disagree but to me the reprocess appears to have lost some detail
and introduced additional noise.

Hi Phillip, You are really getting a good image of the granulation of the thermal cells in the sun  But, alas, no sun spots or other imperfections. Are we at solar minimum now? Thanks for the images Bill
