Title: M97 Narrowband
Post by: dpaul on May 03, 2018, 11:14:28 pm
M97 taken with Atik Horizon Mono and 30'' Scope on a near full moon.
HA and OIII frames were 25 seconds (25 of each), SII was 35 seconds (25 of each).

Taken on an equatorial platform without guiding and Pixinsight processed.

Quite impressive!  I have imaged M97, but only with an 8" scope rather than a 30" scope, and I found it a somewhat dim object.  That 30" scope you are using really gathers the light.

Well done!

Thanks Jim,

No reason why a smaller scope can't do similar with longer exposures - the advantage I have though is it only need short exposures and guiding is less necessary.

The optics are also superb - by Mike Lockwood.
