Post by: Steve on November 13, 2012, 03:02:28 pm
Hello,

As we are coming into the last few weeks of 2012 is time to forget about Christmas and think instead of the 2013 Imaging Competition.  The prize this year is an Atik 11000 mono  :o

The announcement is below.  Please spread the word,  would be nice to have a record number of entries.

Cheers
Steve

Competition,

We are very happy to announce that once again we will be running the Atik Imaging Competition.  This is an opportunity share the great pictures you have been taking with other Atik camera users and astronomers in general.  All the images will go into the gallery section of the Atik website together with full credits and information.  This allows online voting later in the year but is also a great resource for people to see what they might expect from a camera/telescope combinations.  As well as an online gallery we aim to print all the images submitted for display at the London Astrofest event in February.

For such a big competition we need a big prize.   This year we have excelled ourselves, and are offering an Atik 11000 mono for the winning entry!!!!!
Runners up can choose filterwheels or Off axis guiders.

Once again we will have three categories for voting
I Atik Titans,  16IC and Atik 16
II  Atik 314E, 320E, 420E 428ex 450ex and Atik 16HR
III Atik 460ex 383L+ 11000 and 4000

The overall winner will be selected taking into account the camera and telescope used.

Please visit our website for details on submitting images.   http://www.atik-cameras.com/competition (http://www.atik-cameras.com/competition)I would encourage everyone to submit and image as this is very much a community event and you never know,  you might have the winner.   I very much look forward to seeing this year’s images.

HI,

Thanks all who entered.  If you didn't enter, or even if you did, you can still be involved by voting when we open the on line voting in a few weeks.  Now I need to crack on and up load the last couple of weeks entries to the website and organise the printing ready to the display at Astrofest in London in a couple of weeks.

Best
Steve

Hey;

wouldn't it be a good Idea to create some kind of "monthly contest" on the forum where all of us could upload and or vote for pictures; this would be challenging and nice for everyone, sharing results and also beeing rewarded for it at the end of the voting time; not necessayry with a Camera  ;D

What do you think about?

Best

sorry missed this.  Yes open to ideas.
I need to organise the online voting for the 2013 comp first.  The display at Astrofest looked great.
Cheers

The 2013 Competition is moving into its penultimate stage before the prizes are awarded.  All the pictures are now online at http://www.atik-cameras.com/competition  (http://www.atik-cameras.com/competition)  .  Please do visit the site and have a browse through the entries.  Also we are very grateful if visitors can help choose a winner by voting for those pictures they like.  You can vote for as many as you like, simply put the entry numbers and a short reason (eg 999,  great detail and colour in stars) one vote per line in an email to competition@atik-cameras.com
We will close the voting on 1st May and count the votes.  The picture receiving the most votes in each section will be awarded the section win and one section winner will be chosen by an expert panel to receive the overall prize of the Atik 11000.
This year Rui has put all the pictures together in a slide show and posted on our You Tube channel.  There is a link to this on the web site.  Obviously we also needed some suitable music for the video and who best to ask other than Jon Grove.   Jon is the co-designer of the original Artemis cameras that became the Atik 16 and 16HR cameras.  So get yourself a coffee,  press play,  kick back and enjoy the show.
