Title: New Test Application version (and Alpha3 driver release)
Post by: NickK on February 14, 2013, 12:01:04 pm
I've just released an updated Test application and the Alpha3 drivers it uses.

http://stargazerslounge.com/topic/177346-atik-osx-test-application-alpha3-drivers-available-here/

I'll have a chat to Jonathan to see if they'll be kind enough to host releases from Beta onwards.

Kind regards
Nick

I have a simple PC application now that should, once I get in front of the cameras, allow you to read the FTDIChipID using windows. The you can simply add it to the application and hey presto - 16IC support! :D

Code: [Select]
C:\Users\Nick\Desktop\GetChipId>GetFTDIChipId.exe
Dll Version = 1.1.0

Number of 232R devices = 1

Device 0
        Serial Number: A3001QH8
        Description: ATK 16IC Camera
        Location ID: 0x00000012
        Chip ID: 0x0EE8F4C9

Get Chip IDs using handle
1 FTDI devices connected
        Chip ID: 0x0EE8F4C9
Press return to exit

So my PC app works :)

This little app is what you can run on your PC to get the FTDIChipId for the Example Application legacy support of the 16IC :D

I did some additional testing with 16HR, 460ex OSC at the SGL8 starparty and found a couple of issues with missing USB identifiers. I've added these in to the beta.

Hi Nick,

I tried the Alpha3 drivers and your program, I was using my 314L+ Set point cooling seems to work and also my attic EFW2 rotates.

Running for my mac book pro 17", quod core i7 with 8Gb ram

I was struggling a little bit with the saving of the images couldn't change folder or capture any of the images - might just be me.

Nick I applaud your efforts in writing these drivers and app, I've been waiting for a long time so I can use my Mac in the field with the cameras and filter wheel. Having bought the Mac year ago I had to install windows using Boot Camp to be able to use my gear.

If there is any way I can help to develop or test anything you bring out please drop me a line.

Happy days.

Rob Banks

Hi Rob,
Thanks for confirming the 314L+, you'll be probably please to know that work is continuing - I'm going to release an Alpha4 shortly which has numerous bug fixes, and improvements in both the app and the drivers. These may actually become the Beta1 release candidate. Each alpha release has seen a leap in stability and there's now considerable interest in the latest version progressing to B1 :D

The example app is really designed for people to try the drivers and for developers to have a look as the sources are made available for the Example app (Drivers are NDA on the source).

Kind regards,
Nick
