Title: Atik 460EX cooling issue
Post by: astrodoc on March 14, 2021, 11:59:21 pm
Hi folks,
I've recently noted some difficulty with camera cooling for my 460EX. I don't need much as I am using it for spectroscopy only so I just cool it down to -10C. When it's cold out it works fine but when the temperatures are warmer it seems to be working very hard to maintain the -10 level. The power level will be up to 95% when it's 60 degrees F out, then as the night progresses it might go down to 75%. Last summer in the hot weather it ran 100% until it started to fail to maintain -10. Not sure what the problem is. The camera is about 3+ years old now.
Thanks
Dave

Hello Dave,

The 460 has a rated maximum delta of -25 deg C below the ambient temperature so at 15 deg C your expected maximum cooling would be -10 deg C. It sounds as though your camera is working as expected.

If you are concerned please email us at support@atik-cameras.com

Best regards
Vince
