Title: Cone / NGC 2264 nebula
Post by: riklaunim on February 03, 2012, 01:01:43 pm
This is a "quick" imaging run - 12 x 10 min Baader H-alpha + Atik 314L + TSAPO65Q.

you may need to stretch the image a lot more to bring out the nebula. Even 120min at F/6.5 should show something more though noisy.

That's doable, but with much more noise...

That's ~3.17 "/pixel... Now a camera with 24 x 24 um pixels would have similar resolution with C9,25" + f/6,3 reducer/corrector or in a 16" f/5 Newtonian with the ASA reducer. So ~f/3.8 + nearly 14 times bigger pixels. That would drastically decrease exposure time needed to get very good histogram fill  ;D Shame those 20x20 or 24x24 pixel cameras aren't cheap :P like:
- KAF0261E
- KAF1001E
- CCD77-00

Hi,

I think that your image has even more potential! If you apply a background extraction tool like DBE in pixinsight and adjust the curves after histogram there shoul be less noise and better clearness of the nebulosities...

Best
