Software and Everything Else / Re: The SKY X Pro and ATIK error call out message
« Last post by GerryDoyle on October 08, 2021, 10:49:14 am »
Hi there - think I've rediscovered this error in late 2021 - I can't get The Sky X to connect reliably on a Mac Book with a 460 camera and EFW. ('old' EFW - is that what is now referred to as an 'EFW1', or was that another model?).

The camera temperature control seems very hit or miss - doesn't reach the target set point, power usage doesn't seem to match demand - either that, or it's cooling and the temperature and power reporting is random...

The EFW isn't recognised - 'No Atik filter wheel detected'.  I set up a Win10 installation to see if that worked, and I get the message about missing dlls and entry points.

Also posted on SB support, and I've raised a ticket with Atik, but wondered if any users have a reliable fix?

I've had a response on SB - pointing out the need to use ASCOM in preference to 'native' drivers for TSX under Windows.  But does anyone know how to connect an Atik camera and FW to TSX on a Mac, where ASCOM isn't an option...?

Thanks in anticipation!

Atik One / Atik 414 EX mono does not focus
« Last post by PESCOPE on September 25, 2021, 11:16:42 pm »
This is my first question on this forum. I bought a Atik 414 which I try to use with my 14 inch Celestron with a 6.3 focal reducer but cannot get it to focus well. I have done almost every thing but no joy. I know the back focus of the focal reducer is 105 mm plus the filter drawer the off axis guider and measured the distance and put the camera where it should be but no pin point stars.

In fact I can put the camera any place behind the focal reducer. it does not matter because I just use the focus knob of the scope to get to the same half focus position. Is there any one who can give me advise what to do to get the camera to focus.
I also have a 9.25 celestron with SBIG 8300 and have no problem with that combination.

Suggestions / How to fix telescope?

Last time I bought a telescope to observe the stars, but because of the problem, I forgot to bring it into the house, and it got wet in the rain. Now it can't work anymore. I don't know how to do it, can you suggest me how to do it? Please help me

Hey Vince! Nice to know you're still with us!

Nice work with the FSQ/Horizon combo and I'm really looking forward to the new spam fighting software. As Crooro said, lots of "spammers" (using an alternative, non-four letter word description) out there and I fail to see how posting their crap helps them at all.

Have fun!

Hello Vince

Both photos are beautiful, with Iris we need more integration to better highlight the surrounding clouds ;)
For Spam it's too messed up there are very bad people!
Large Format / How to see the stars?

I am very interested in astronomy, I often see them through books and TV shows. I know it will be difficult to see them directyly. But is it possible for me to observe them directly? Such as the use of an astronomical camera for example. Can you suggest me?
Other Astronomical / Mark Thompson's space lecture

Hi all,

I thought some of you might like this, an Astronomer and TV presenter local to us in Norfolk UK, is trying to break the record for the longest scientific lecture. He has to do 140 hours of almost continues lecturing, his subject is astronomy and related topics, currently he is 50 hours in and still going strong!

Atik has sponsored Mark, it's for a good cause and Mark is a long time Atik user.

Hope you enjoy!

Hi all,

Sorry I've not been around for a while! Too much Atik Support! Apologies for all the spam we keep getting, we are look to upgrade the form soon.

We briefly had some clear sky for a change in the UK the other night, I use our 106 fsq and an Atik Horizon taking 12 x 300 second exposures of Lum and 12 x 150 second exposures of RGB binned 2 x 2 to try to speed up the imaging time before the clouds came back! These is the final results.

Hope you like them.

Vince :)
