General questions

Afternoon all

I'm planning to buy an Atik Infinity in colour (read amazing reviews) and I have a few questions:-

1. I'm a Mac user - will the Infinity software work via Parallels?
2. I have a Celestron Evolution 8", which focal reducer would you recommend I buy?
3. Are any additional filters advisable (other than a light pollution filter?)

The camera just ticks every box and the software looks so user friendly :)

Hi Kate,

I can try to answer question # 2 & 3 for you but I am not a MAC user.

I think the Celestron 6.3 reducer/flattener would work out well with your SCT 8 and Infinity. I will be in the same boat when I receive my Infinity camera and will know better once I play with it using two different focal reducers one being a Celestron 6.3.

A great light pollution filter is the Lumicon Deep Sky filter which allows for that important IR to enter for galaxies. The IDAS P2 is good but it does cut off the IR wavelength. Either than those I have not tried any other except for the Astronomik UHC (allow Ha & IR to enter) in which I do use when the light pollution is stronger or the moon becomes an issue.

Hope this helps you out!
