Is Mount Control Possible?
« on: November 20, 2016, 07:03:48 PM »
Sorry if this has been covered before.

How difficult would it be to add mount control to AtikAir.
Is it a case of Adding a Linux EQDirUSB Driver to the setup?
The Lynx Astro FTDI EQDIR USB Adapter has a Linux Driver available.

It'd be handy to add mount control as well as Camera's and filter wheel.

Or I could just make a very long Mount Serial cable, not sure what the length limits are on RS232 cables are.

Thanks, Darren.

Don't think the atik air was designed for anything other than for imaging. There are already existing products you might want to consider for mount control such as SkyFi or Nexus.

TheSkyX also has raspberrypi edition in beta.

Thanks for that. There are a few other routes I've found anyway so far.
Using the AtikAir Advanced setup installed onto Raspbian OS.
Then installing Lin_Guider on the Raspberry and running it through a network from a VNC connection seems to be a good option so far.

Still only one Network Cable to run then too.

Will see how it all plays together.

Darren.

Yes, it is not difficult to think of.
