490EX questions

I am considering buying a 490EX for use with an 80mm apo refractor.  I have a few questions:
1.  The cooling delta is listed at -25C, which is less than other manufacturers.  Is deep cooling necessary with the ICX-814 sensor?
2.  The Atik gain setting is listed as 0.19 with a resulting FWC of 12,500.  This is lower than other manufacturers which state gain 0.26 and FWC around 18-20,000.  Is there a reason why Atik implemented a lower gain?
