AtikOne 6.0 filter wheel issue with INDI RPi4
« on: October 19, 2019, 09:10:50 PM »

Calling all Linux INDI
I'm having issues with my AtikOne when I connect using Ekos the camera connects but the internal filter wheel keeps rotating. This happens whether I connect using Ekos through KStars directly on the RPi or on the remote windows PC. I have tried different USB ports on the USB3 hub and USB ports on the RPi. I have tried 2 different USB cables and 2 different power leads.

I have had this problem previously. Last time I fixed it by connecting the camera directly to the windows pc and connected to the camera and cycled through the filters with the software. Once reconnected to the RPi it appeared to work. Unfortunately, this fix hasn’t worked this time. I’m a bit stuck.

The RPi is an RPi4 running the beta version of StellarMate OS for RPi4

thanks

Darren

It doesn’t look like anybody has any ideas on this. Including Atik Support, I haven’t had a response to my support ticket. Quite disappointing.

Hello Darren,

Sorry for the delay with this, I believe I replied to you ? We are looking into this issue with the Rpi4 and the filter wheels not working reliably but as yet don't  have a fix. For the time being we are having to say the Atik filter wheels aren't supported on the RPi4.
Best regards
Vince

Back to square one, out in the observatory last night and the gremlins are back. Filter wheel continually spinning after connection.
After a bit of messing, I managed to get it working if I turn auto connect off then connect the AtikOne manually first then connect everything else. Very odd. It seems that connecting manually one device at a time, starting with the AtikOne, sorts the issue.

I have had the same problem with Atik One 6.0 and Atik Base, (Raspberry Pi 3b). I managed to get things working by swapping the USB connections around. The fix you mentioned, manually connecting devices, didn’t work for me, with the filter wheel constantly spinning.

Jaseem addressed this some months ago:
If you flush the driver (in the INDI control panel) then save and restart EKOS the wheel will stop spinning and function normally.
However, you will need to reload your filter settings.

In my instance, I found it occurred intermittently when I reboot Pi.
