SHO imaging with Atik Infinity ?
« on: September 07, 2020, 09:38:43 AM »
Hi,
I am using mono-Infinity camera with Infinity software and I would like to do some test on SHO imaging.
I recently purchased SHO filters. How do you proceed to obtain a SHO image with the Infinity software ?
Also do you have images obtained in Ha with Atik Infinity cam ?
Thank you for your help,

Hello,

Narrowband imaging is best carried out using a cooled camera and with a guided setup taking long exposures or course. With an Infinity and using the Infinity software you could try taking the longest sub your setup will allow you to take without too much tracking and rotational errors, build up an image for each filter and combine the 3 image into RGB image using an image processing program.

Hope this helps.

Vince

Hi Vince and thank you for your answer. I will try out to perform like you suggested, sounds a good plan. I tried Eagle Nebula M16 with Ha filter and Atik Infinity last night and the result is not too bad. No guiding, just my AZEQ6 in AZ mode. EQ mode should improve tracking. 13x70s_Bin1

Hello,

That's a great image! EQ mode will help improve the tracking and reduce the star elongation as you say!
