ATIK EFWII filterwheel issues in the Sky X
« on: August 11, 2013, 02:04:37 AM »
I have a persistent issue using my EFWII filterwheel in the Sky X along with my ATIK 383L+.
When I connect to the camera in the The Sky X, the filterwheel automatically connects as expected. However, what is happening is that the filterwheel says "Moving" and will not show the selected filter.

In the Sky X Camera Add on you cannot take an image when the filter is moving (good idea!). So I'm wondering if this is a hardware issue with the filterwheel motor or a driver issue or a Sky X issue.

Anyone using this combo ofhardware/software and either having or not having this constantly moving filterwheel?

Thanks,
Robert Mueller

When the filterwheel power is first connected, the wheel makes two revolutions to sense the wheel type.

When the wheel is in motion, it will return information to the driver that it's in transition.

I can't comment on the TheSkyX's driver I'd contact the support email, but was the filterwheel just powered on before the connecting the USB?

Nick,
thanks for the response...I generally have all the equipment connected and then flip the power switch, so it all connects together. I did find that in the ASCOM profile explorer the camera was in there twice...perhaps it was creating a conflict.

I will test again tonight and see what happens.
