Dawn & Artemis & Pixinsight color processing

All,

I have a 420c and have been capturing native FIT format. In an effort to extract the color for use in Pixinsight I have converted the color FIT to its respective RGB channels. I have tried to use Dawn to recreate a color composite but get the error message 'file not recognized as Atik image'.

Has anyone come across this or have a solution to it?
