Atik 428EX with Filter Wheel
« on: February 09, 2015, 06:20:15 pm »
Trying to set up using my  "soon to arive" Atik 428EX Mono camera with a 950mm focal length refractor with:
Field flattener with 55mm back focus.
Filter wheel that is 25mm thick.
[ Camera sensor is 13mm behind the front camera mount flange. ]

I see this:
scope > filter wheel > field flattener > 42 mm spacer > Atik camera.

Anybody have a similar set up.  I want to check how you get focus.

Hi Jon,

I was using that same camera (literally - you waiting for my camera to arrive tomorrow!) on an ED80 with a field flattener that had 55mm of back focus.

I had it set up like this without issue:

scope > field flattener> spacer > filter wheel > camera

With your original setup you may experience vignetting by have the sensor so far from the filter wheel assuming you are using 1.25" filters.

I've got a 383L set up in a similar way to what Dave describes:
Scope - Focuser - flattener - 15mm spacer - filter wheel - male to male T adaptor - camera.
spacer        15
filter wheel  19
T adaptor      4
CCD to flange 17
             ---
Total         55
