Images No Stacking
« on: September 26, 2020, 01:13:26 AM »
Hi Guys,

I am having a problem when trying to image Mars and am writing this as I am trying to image.

I have a sharp in focus image and exposing at  0.005, binning 1 x 1 and have tried 4 x 4 and 8 x 8, however, when I select stack images, it simply stacks the first then the rest are not stacked.

I have deselected the FWHM setting,

If I look at the image quality setting this is high, between 88 - 94 and assume this is because no stars are in the image?

If I try to increase the exposure, it just simply over exposes the image?

I am really keen to get some images of Mars as it enters the best possible position over the next few weeks, so any suggestions would be most welcome?

Regards

Hello Les,

The Infinity software is designed for deepsky imaging, it need a star field to align the subs so it can't align and stack a planetary image. To image a planet you will need to save all the fits files using Infinity, Artemis capture or dusk and align and stack them in a program such as Registax. https://www.astronomie.be/registax/

I hope this helps.

Best regards
Vince
