ADU value taking flats at dusk (Horizon II OSC)
« on: July 11, 2022, 11:02:29 AM »
Hi!

I have a Horizon II OSC camera using it with EKOS/Indilib and the combination works perfectly. I'm planning on taking flats during dusk with padding and even illumination set to 'no'. Instead of delivering a value of 0-65535 I'm given 0-4095 for the ADU while inspecting the histogram in EKOS. What would be the correct ADU value to aim for in the histogram to get a correct flat image?

Sorry for this noob question but better safe than sorry :)

Cheers

Decided to go for ADU 'round 2000 +/- 100 and use the calibration function in EKOS and see how it works.

The padding setting makes the 12-bit A/D (0-4095) padded out to become 16-bit (0-65535). Padding on/off toggles whether you get the native 12-bit, or the padded 16-bit.

I forgot to add that I am also using Ekos/ INDI on an Atik Base with Stellarmate.  Glad to hear yours is doing well.  I have had some struggles with mine, but it is working OK now. I am using a Horizon I monochrome for some imaging and an Atik 428EX color for other imaging.
