428EX + Hyperstar - Correct filter size
« on: February 12, 2012, 03:58:58 pm »
I am planning to buy this camera and use it with my C11 Edge + Hyperstar setup. What size filter you would recommend to avoid vignetting. I will build a drawer type filter changer for this setup do I can design it so that the filter is mounted with 0.5mm from the tip of the camera. Would that configuration allow me to use 1.25" filters ?

1,25" filters are ok. The sensor has a not so big 2/3" diagonal.

I'm using 1-1/4" LRGB and narrowband filters with the 428Ex with no problems with several reflectors/refractors but have no experience using filters with Hyperstar.

Thank you both.

Hyperstar is f/2. This stretches many filter-camera combinations to their limits.

It's good to know that I can use 1.25" filters with my other configurations.

If there are any Hyperstar + 314L+ or 428EX, I will appreciate their input.

Clear skies.
