Whale NGC 4631 ATIK 428 OSC testing
« on: March 20, 2012, 08:22:18 am »
Here is my first OSC image, processed in Astroart 5 ( just learning so bare with me ), The ATIK 428 OSC is a fabulous looking camera, the operating temperature isn't going to break any records at only -25 ambient, this image was taken at -10

50 Flats
50 BIAS
12 x 10mins

Moderate city/town seeing.
IDAS filter and Megrez 110 Doublet

moderate seeing.

I'd like to know how to get rid on the random red/green/blue pixels in processing rather than stamping them in photoshop?

Hi Guy,

Nice picture! For cleaning up those defect pixels i would recomment PixInsight!!
This Soft is absolutely gorgeous and not only supposed to be used with astro images!
It's price is really competitive; agains PS terms...

There is a constant learning curve with this soft, there are free updates/grades..
In the beginning you will struggle a bit but it is absolutely worth the efforts because the results will be totally better than with some other softs!!

Try it, they propose a trial DWLD...

Hi Guy!

Congratulation - its a wonderful image.

I would recommend PixInsight also. Not only for DBE and Hotpixels, but
for the entire processing from calibration till converting the finished image to jpg.
Have a look to this tutorials - for example: http://www.harrysastroshed.com/pixinsighthome.html

Kind regards.

Guy,

PI is so much more than DBE  ;) Herbert gave you the best link possible to this question; with Harry no question stays open. He explains everything KISS, Keep it simple and stupid; so that even I managed to understand a good part of the PI workflows ;D
