New 383L+ OSC - Dark Vertical Lines through pics
« on: December 27, 2013, 02:56:14 AM »
Hey everyone,

Very new to astrophotography so will be grateful for any advice or solutions.

I have had my brand new 383L+ OSC for just over a week now and have used it on four occasions.  The last two times have resulted in some or all of my pictures (30s exp, Bin 1x1 and 0.2s exp bin 1x1) having six black vertical lines running through them.  Temperature cooled to -10C.
The first time it occurred it was only after running the CCD for over 30mins but the second time it was there right from the start.  The lines are not seen on the Artemis Capture screen but are on the FITS image.

Is this a likely sensor chip fault or just 'one of those things' that happens now and then?

Also, I note my fan whirs off and on - sounds like it speeds up then slows down - throughout my imaging sessions.

Appreciate any advice for this newbie!!

Hi Sami - I would contact the support email.

I'm speculating but this looks like a sensor issue to me.
