383L+ Sensor
« on: May 10, 2014, 10:35:21 pm »
I have a 383L+ that I'm using on a spectroscopy project. Knowledge of the sensor's quantum efficiency curve is helpful when analyzing a given spectrum's intensity curve. The 383L+ employs the KAF-3800 sensor, which apparently comes in versions with different microlens technology. The quantum efficiency of the sensor is directly affected by the presence or absence of microlenses.

Does anyone know if a) the 383L+'s sensor uses microlens technology and b) if so, which one? The three that I've read about are "Clear Glass", "MAR Glass", and "No Glass".

Also, does anyone have an Excel spreadsheet of the QE data?

Thanks in advance,
Gary

I just noticed this question came up back in 2013 with subject line "ATIK 383L+ sensor type" but nobody provided an answer  :-\

Hopefully, someone has the answer now! :)

I'm guessing it's the micro lensed sensor.

I'm building a DIY spectrograph and also would be interested in building a excel would be interesting but I believe that would be Truesense creating it.

Hi Nick,

I sure hope it has microlenses. The QE without it is pretty sad peaking around 38%.
BTW, I mistyped the sensor type. Its a KAF-8300.

Thx,
Gary
