383L+ Mono Shutter defect?
« on: November 28, 2014, 09:17:17 pm »
Hi,

I have started to see a small shadow in the bottom of a number of my images.  I have eliminated most of the the possible causes, except for the possibility that the shutter is not quite clearing the sensor consistently.  I watched the image acquisition of a bunch of flats taken at >5 seconds each and some had this artifact and some did not.  I haven't taken the camera off the scope yet to look at it, but I will be doing so soon.  In the meanwhile, the camera has firmware 3.33 and was serviced earlier this year by ATIK for another issue.  Is the shutter a user adjustable item?  I've attached a portion of an image that shows the shadow that appears.

Thanks,

-Jim

In my case, the exposure duration does not matter

I don't think there is any alternative than to contact Atik service. I've never heard of these shutters being something that can be serviced by a user.
