artemisHSC verses ASCOM driver which one?
« on: September 07, 2015, 11:51:30 PM »
Having just discovered my upgraded MaximDL doesn't work properly with the artemisHSC driver temp reporting, which in turn breaks ACP... joy. What's the difference with using the ASCOM driver instead? It seems to work ok but having used the HSC driver since Maxim V5 I was wondering what the pros & cons were.. before I downgrade Maxim?

Hi,
I use the ASCOM driver with both Astroart and MAXIM (5.24 and 610) since 2013 anf I never had a problem.
I have an Atik 4000 mono.
Hope it will help.
Clear skies!

If you use the ASCOM driver you may need to choose the Camera own thread selection in Maxim 6, otherwise you can not interrupt a sequence (the stop button does not work).  The only other minor difference is that after the camera warm up, the cooler does not switch itself off as in the ArtemisHSC.

Otherwise I have seen no difference in between them.

What did you mean by saying choose the cameras own thread? Where do you do that as mine does lock up using the ascom driver. Thanks so much, David
