Just ordered an Atik 460EXm... First test image

Hi,

After having worked with an Atik 16HR for the last couple of years, and a modified Canon 450D, I have just placed an order for an Atik 460EX monochrome camera.

Judging the nice pictures that pass by on this forum, I think I will have a lot of fun with it

My Atik 460exm arrived about a week ago and last Saturday the skies cleared (the opposite of what one might expect  . Ready to do some tests with the camera, in combination with a 10" f/4.8 Newtonian. I didn't use a coma corrector and this clearly shows in the results, but consider it as a test of the camera, not as a test of the optical system.

I am very satisfied with the sensitivity of the Sony sensor. Even in short subframes a lot of faint nebulosity shows. Noise is very low.

I hereby attach one of the test images: 15x5m of the Cocoon Nebula in Cygnus.
