NGC 206 in Andromeda
« on: October 07, 2016, 08:29:32 am »
Beside the "big one" M 31, this small open cluster usually it goes unnoticed.

NGC 206 is the richest and most conspicuous star cloud in the Andromeda Galaxy as well as one of the largest and brightest star formation regions of the Local Group. It contains more than 300 stars brighter than Mb=−3.6. It was originally identified by Edwin Hubble as a star cluster but today, due to its size, it is classified as an OB association. (Wikipedia)

It really is amazing what the home based astronomer can do these days.  May I ask about your focal reducer?

Oops, I guess my neurons needed more coffee this morning.  After posting I realized you used a Newtonion designed for AP with a native focal length of F/4, no reducer needed.  I was thinking refractor.  Wouldn't an 8 inch refractor be nice?

 :D :D :D

You are right, maybe I need a reducer focal, but my provider said that this scope can't use anyone. The camera has not focus.

Im searching for a refractor with more high FOV with reducer focal too.  For big nebula and some bright ones that my 200/800 burns the core. But not 8".... will be too expensive  ;D

Nice image.  I agree, that cluster has not been on my list.  I will have to try for it soon.  Andromeda is behind some trees right now, but in a month or so it will be visible

This is a lovely shot, and nice to see something that usually gets overlooked.
