M97 - narrowband
« on: January 30, 2018, 09:05:29 pm »
This was effort from last night with a ''nearly full moon'' and seeing quite poor (Horizon Mono - 30'' F3.5 Dob):

HA / OIII – 30 frames of 15 seconds 4x4 binning
SII – 30 frames of 25 seconds 4x4 binning

SII was very faint (regardless of exposure) and OIII was quite affected by the nearby nearly full moon.

At least a large scope can get very quick narrow band images.

Hi David!!

Such a nice Owl! It's pretty detailed, especially with a nearly full moon (and so big moon!)

I hope you could enjoy another Horizon session very soon :)

Why is it green? I want to know a lot. I have never seen it, it is this color.

Don't worry about the green - could be the wrong processing (still learning).
Either way, narrow band is not going to give the same view as with RGB - I am keen however to try imaging this in regular filters to see what colour it really is!

Thanks

David
