Use of 2" NB filters, Canon lens, and Atik camera
« on: February 05, 2015, 03:25:28 AM »
I would like to use an Atik 383l+ and Canon EOS lenses (connected via the Geoptick adapter*), with 2" narrowband filters. How do I add the narrowband filters to this setup? What kind of adapter, and where can I get one (in the US)? Thank you

Put a filter wheel or filter drawer between the Geoptik T2 adapter and the Atik camera (all the connections here on the camera side of the Geoptik are t-thread).

But understand, most filter wheels or drawers are 17-25mm thick, which adds to the distance between the EOS lens and the Atik camera sensor, and it will change the FOV of the image, and it will also affect focus of the lens.

For example, the electronic Atik EFW2 2" filter wheel here is 22mm m thick:

This Orion 2" mechanical filter wheel is 21mm thick, and has t-thread connections both sides:

Or Dean at Starizona.com might be able to provide adapters for a filter drawer (only holds one filter, but effortless to change a filter) that might work, 17mm thick:

Let us know what you come up with.
