EFW2 on 64-bit Windows 8 with 64bit Application?
« on: February 05, 2016, 10:20:57 AM »
A friend of mine is using Firecapture 2.5, which is 64-bit, when attempting to connect to an EFW2 filterwheel through ASCOM he's getting the error message "This 32bit only driver won't work in a 64bit application" and can't connect the two.

I've managed to "workaround" by using the ATIK filterwheel tool, which does connect (or Firecapture 2.4, which is 32-bit and works) but obviously a solution that does not require such shenanigans is much preferred.

Is there a solution?

I have been informed by Atik that a 64bit Ascom driver for the EFW2 is in the pipeline. Let's hope so as I'm all 64bit apart from this filterwheel and it's starting to bug me. The other option is a Zagyl which has support but only 8 positions and is slow, however a new worm is soon available to double it's speed.

You'll be pleased to know we've just released the latest version of our BETA drivers which now includes a 64-bit driver for the EFW2. You can download it here http://www.atik-cameras.com/news/atik-infinity-software-update-and-beta-3-drivers/

Let us know how you get on!
