Dawn & Field Rotation
« on: May 04, 2016, 01:15:02 PM »
I have Dawn version B3. I apologise if the matter now referred to has been addressed in a later version.

Is Dawn ever going to tackle field rotation when stacking images? All other stacking programs that I have encountered do. When the mount is not exactly polar aligned and images are taken not too far from the celestial pole I just can't use Dawn. See attached image which shows corner and centre crops of a Dawn-stacked image of 6 x 5 minutes autoguided exposures.

Unfortunately that is a limitation of the software and you are on the latest version - I'm sorry it's not more positive news. We are due to review Dawn in the near future to see where we might be able to take it, the project was put on hold after the original software engineer moved on and we're only now finding ourselves in a position to pick it back up. It's too early to make any promises and it's unlikely to be on a short time frame, but I'm hoping we can improve things in the future.

Best,
Jo
