460ex Cooling Issue

Hello All,

I recently purchased an Atik 460ex mono. It seems to have very poor cooling. It only cools to about ambient, e.g., if it is 10c ambient it cools to about 10c at 100%. Has anyone experienced anything similar? Wanted some feedback before I send it back.

I have a mono 428Ex and have had no problems with it cooling.  At 20C ambient it will cool to and hold at -10C (actually -9.9C for some unknown reason).

Thank you for your reply. What is the power usage at that temperature? What capture software are you using?

I notice we're not talking the same CCD; however, they're probably similar. 

I use Artemis for image capture.  The 428Ex's cooling is probably at about 100% with a 30C differential temperature.  I notice at ambient temperatures above about 22C I cannot reach -10C.

Hi,

I have had an Atik 460EX since its launch. I have no problems with cooling as it reaches my setting, -10 under ambient within 10 seconds and them maintains that temp for hours throughout the imaging session. I use Nebulosity for capture and processing.

Great cam very pleased with its performance!
