383L+ bad pixels?
« on: October 20, 2016, 03:32:48 pm »
Here is an image I shot last night.

6 x 600 second frames at -10C with an 'imaging' LP filter. Despite the fact that it is slightly out of focus what is up with the linear dot dot dot noise?

Yes it is highly cropped.

The dots are hot pixels, they are normal and can be removed using image calibration, in particular using a dark frame.

They show as lines because the mount is drifting slightly between the exposures and the stacking has registered the stars.

Indeed it does help to apply the darks...

I was just taken aback a little at how many hot pixels there were.
