Combining LRGB Images when RGB has x2 Binning
« on: October 26, 2012, 10:59:42 am »
Hi All

I have a 314L+ and the old EFW.  I have some images that were taken with no binning for the L image and x2 binning for RGB.

At the time of making the images it didn't occur to me that there would be problems aligning the images as I have read a number of papers recommending this image configuration to reduce the RGB image times.  Unfortunately RegiStax v6 does not seem to be able to handle this.

Can anyone suggest any software I can use to 'increase' the resolution of a RGB FITS image so I can align the images?

Also if anyone has any success with combining LRGB images of different resolutions I would be interested in how they did it :)

Kind regards

Ian

Hi Ian, CCD Stack and Registar both do this. Registar is more limited in its functionality but what it does it does well.
You can put in an image of any resolution and any orientation and it will align it.
CCD Stack is a more full featured program for pre processing prior to bringing it into Photoshop.

Hi Mike

Thanks for your reply.

As I mentioned I thought RegiStax should do it.  Do you happen to know this is still available in version 6 as I have tried it but not being able to get it to work.

Kind regards

H Ian... I believe you may be confused by the two programs. REGISTAX is geared for lunar and planetary images taken with either webcams or dedicated planetary imagers, i.e. DMK, SkyNyx etc.
REGISTAR is the alignment program.
