CFA for Horizon Color
« on: February 16, 2018, 11:57:30 PM »
Does anyone know what the Color Filter Array (CFA) pattern is for the Horizon color camera? I need this information to properly debayer the saved fits files into RGB.

Thanks

Did get an answer to this question?  Also interested in which pattern is appropriate.

Hi BWA

I found that RGGB worked, the attached Pixinsight processed image looks ok.
Previously I'd tried to debayer 2x2 binned images but that screws up the CFA pattern, you must use 1x1.
Also debayer of frame should be done as the ''very first step'' with the raw frames (before calibrating with darks, bias, etc).

Image quality has been significantly reduced to allow posting on the forum.

After talking to support regarding the Bayer pattern I worked my way through the U-Tube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6A2y3W0uJY) ATIK posted regarding determining the correct Bayer pattern and now use GRBG as the default in PixInsight and ImagesPlus.  I find it gives me a much smoother image than RGGB did.
